Bonus Post - Trail Name

I keep forgetting this one, but here it is at last.

On the trail most hikers take on a trail name. It's usually suggested by other hikers and accepted by the hiker, though some use a nickname they've had previously. There's usually a personal trait or funny story behind the trail name.

While hiking with Steve and Single Malt, they suggested Lt Dan, from Forest Gump, since I'd been in the Air Force. I told them that wouldn't work since I was a Captain. So they came up with Captain Redbeard, then shortened it to just Redbeard. It works well with the pirate shirt I wear during town stops. And with my red beard.

  1. Now you have satisfied everyone's curiosity regarding your trail name. Seems like an appropriate name. The beard is actually quite handsome ;-)

  2. So I imagine you won't trim your beard while on the hike since that's now the source of your trail name. Just think how it will look in a couple months. Yet another extreme change in your life after years of having to be clean shaven.

  3. Who is that handsome man? If I didn't know better I would think it was Dale or Kurt.
